Intergenerational

MMLCC is a non-profit organization that provides intergenerational gathering place where ecological understandingis expressed through cultural renewal, environmental restoration, individual healing, and integrating community. We believe the principles of Montessori education can foster the community empowered, aware, thoughtful, and capable of addressing complex issues of our time.

Combining Talents to Establish Innovative Programs

By combining skills and talents of the Children's House staffs, Ballard High School instructors, students, and community members to create a truly innovative program where creativity flourishes.

Language and Cultural Program Develops Children's Early Impressions

We offer languages at a time when children can most readily acquire them.
Our after-school programs currently include Italian and Mandarin Chinese language.
The history and culture expressed in these languages is thoroughly and experientially explored.
The children sing, perform dramas, and run their own "restaurants", paint, draw, and write.
In addition, we incorporate these activities in the Children's House curriculum.

After-School Program Embraces Creativity Within Community

Our after-school program for five to eight year olds draws upon the resources offered in our local community.
By moving into relationships with other children, people and places around the world, we believe that by preparing a place where
children can be put in touch with their own creative possibilities, they will express their ideas and feelings, and find essential cosmic connections between them.
